Equestrian Competition for Youth in Selma, NC

A Competitive Riding Experience in a Supportive Setting

Star Ridge Stables proudly hosts a competitive IEA (Interscholastic Equestrian Association) team, open to middle and high school riders of all experience levels. Designed to give youth the opportunity to show and compete without owning a horse, the IEA program promotes teamwork, sportsmanship, and rider development in a team-based format.

As part of our barn’s commitment to growth and opportunity, the IEA team gives students in grades 4–12 the chance to sharpen their skills, experience show life, and build long-lasting friendships.

What Is IEA?

IEA is a national organization that allows young riders to compete in hunt seat equitation competitions without needing to own a horse. Riders draw a horse at random at each show and are judged on their ability to communicate, adapt, and perform based on the mount they are given.
This format challenges riders to apply foundational horsemanship and riding principles in real-time—making it an excellent learning platform.
