At Star Ridge Stables, we provide structured horseback riding lessons in a positive, encouraging environment. Whether you’re stepping into the stirrups for the first time or preparing for your next show, our lessons are designed to build rider confidence, improve technique, and nurture a strong partnership with the horse.

We welcome riders of all levels, ages 6 and up, from across Selma, Smithfield, Goldsboro, Clayton, and surrounding communities.

Beginner to Advanced Levels

From learning how to mount a horse safely to refining your position over fences, our instructors tailor each lesson to match your skill level and goals. We emphasize safe handling, correct form, and respect for the horse at every stage.

Our Lesson Horses

Star Ridge Stables maintains a carefully selected group of reliable, well-trained lesson horses suitable for riders of all levels. Our horses are known for their calm temperament, solid training, and ability to help riders progress safely and confidently.

Scheduling & Requirements

  • Lessons are offered Monday - Saturday 7 AM – 9 PM
  • Riders should wear closed-toe shoes and long pants
  • ASTM/SEI-certified helmets are required (loaner helmets available)
  • Students must arrive 15–20 minutes early for grooming and tacking
  • Lesson packages and monthly plans available
