At Star Ridge Stables, our mission is to provide more than just horseback riding lessons. We’re dedicated to creating a space where riders build confidence, learn responsibility, and develop a lifelong connection with horses. Whether riding for fun, fitness, or future competition, students at Star Ridge thrive in a supportive, goal-oriented environment.
Founded by long-time instructor and horsewoman Stella Prescott, our program was designed to empower riders through excellent horsemanship, skill development, and personal progress. Located in Selma, NC, we proudly serve families from nearby areas including Smithfield, Goldsboro, Clayton, and Garner.
Every lesson at Star Ridge is built around three principles:

Tailoring every lesson to the rider’s age, goals, and experience level.
From group lessons and summer camps to competitive IEA team training, Star Ridge Stables offers programs for a variety of goals and interests. Our students come from throughout Johnston County and nearby towns—including Smithfield, Goldsboro, Clayton, and Garner.

With decades of experience as both a rider and instructor, Stella Prescott is the heart behind Star Ridge Stables. Her approach blends technical instruction with encouragement and patience. Stella believes riding is a tool for life, teaching riders valuable lessons about commitment, communication, and self-awareness.
Her passion is matched by her professionalism—Stella has trained hundreds of students over the years, helping them develop safe, effective riding techniques while fostering respect for the horse.
